Step inside Surgeons’ Hall after dark for a unique adults-only evening exploring the fascinating, surprising and sometimes grisly worlds of surgery, medicine and medical history.
For one night, the historic Museum and Library of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh will come alive with live music, mini talks, hands-on activities, expert demonstrations and stories from across the centuries.
Singer-songwriter Hannah Rose Platt will perform live throughout the evening, featuring songs from her album Fragile Creatures. Blending music and storytelling, Hannah’s performances will provide an atmospheric soundtrack as you explore Surgeons’ Hall after hours.
Explore our world-famous Library and discover highlights from one of the oldest and most comprehensive collections of medical documentation. Wander through the atmospheric pathology galleries, where generations of surgeons once expanded their knowledge and prepared for their College examinations.
Throughout the evening, there will be plenty of opportunities to get involved. Test your skills on a surgical robot, discover the daring techniques of the Barber Surgeons, and meet specialists who will bring both historic and modern medicine to life.
You can also enjoy a programme of fascinating mini talks, offering bite-sized insights into surgery, medicine and the remarkable stories behind our collections.
Our acclaimed 5-star Blood and Guts guides will be leading special mini walking tours, uncovering some of the extraordinary – and occasionally shocking – stories from Edinburgh’s surgical and medical past.
A cash bar and relaxation area will be available throughout the evening. Please note that we do not have cloakroom facilities, so bags and jackets cannot be left for safekeeping.
