Amputation Case

This amputation case was the University of Edinburgh prize for military surgery. It was awarded to John Murray, Session 1843 - 1844. Dr. Murray went on to use these instruments during the Crimean War. The instruments were manufactured by Archibald Young ltd, Edinburgh, one of Edinburgh’s longest surviving surgical instrument makers. You can find out more about Archibald Young in our upcoming talk with Ruth Pollitt</a>
