Dentures

Dentures, full upper & lower dentures on gold bases commendably fitted with mineral tube teeth. The maxillary are crudely fashioned from the osteao-dentine of the walrus. This set had obviously been inserted unduly soon after the extraction of the natural teeth. Constructed in 1851 by A.S. Young, Glasgow, and repaired in 1852. At one time, it was more or less customary for practitioners to punch their initials and the year of construction on the metal bases of dentures as can be seen here.
