2023 School Christmas Lecture

13 November 2023

The 2023 Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh School Christmas Lecture will take place on Wednesday the 29th of November at 2pm. This is a free event aimed at S4+.

This year we will be joined by the Kids Operating Room (KidsOR).

KidsOR is a global health charity focused entirely on changing this reality through the provision of high quality, safe surgical services for children in low- and middle-income countries.

Join David Cunningham - CEO of Kids Operating Room - as we delve into the remarkable journey of this Scottish Charity. In just five short years, they have brought life-saving and life-changing surgical interventions to over 100,000 children. Featuring a special appearance from KidsOR’s in-house Biomedical Engineer, Courtney Ludick.

Speaker info

Chief Executive David Cunningham has led children’s charities for over a decade, and, with Co-Founders Gareth & Nicola Wood, was inspired to start Kids Operating Room after witnessing the devastating consequences of the global crisis in children’s surgery at a hospital in Uganda.

As a psychology graduate with a keen interest in early-years development, David has championed holistic centres of excellence that do more than just provide safe spaces for children’s surgery.
