PIONEERS IN PRACTICE FOH SCREEN 2160 X 1080 Px

An evening celebrating the trailblazing women who advanced the art and science of medicine.

Join Surgeons Hall Museum for a captivating evening honouring the vision, skill, and perseverance of some of the women who transformed healthcare and medical science. Pioneers in Practice: The Legacy of Women in Medicine brings together inspiring talks, live music, and reflection to celebrate their enduring impact on the field.

The programme will feature engaging lectures from voices in medicine and medical history, alongside a live performance by acclaimed singer-songwriter Hannah Rose Platt, performing songs from her album Fragile Creatures which is a moving musical tribute to women in medicine.

A cash bar will be available throughout the evening.

This event marks the closing of Surgeons’ Hall Museum’s temporary exhibition on Women in Surgery, which has highlighted the challenges, achievements, and resilience of female surgeons across generations. Following the exhibition’s closure, the ‘Eleven Surgeons’ portrait celebrating the Hunter Doig Award unveiled last year will take up permanent display in the College entrance, enhancing the visibility of women and ensuring their contributions continue to inspire future generations.
