Join us on Thursday the 15th of May for an evening lecture at Surgeons’ Hall Library, which will be presented by Tom Wood.

Tom Wood was one of Scotland's most senior and experienced police officers. Formerly Deputy Chief Constable and Director of Operation for Lothian and Borders Police, he is an authority on serious and violent crime and the policing of major events.

In this talk he will discuss he will discuss the Ruxton case and why its known as the first modern murder.

In 1935 the murder of Isabella Ruxton and Mary Rogerson resulted in one of the most complex investigations the world had seen. Tom will discuss the work of Scottish forensic scientists who developed new techniques to solve the case and how this ground-breaking work shaped the future of scientific criminal investigations.

This talk will be around 1 hour long.
