Dr. Mann will discuss how forensic anthropologists, often known as "Bone Detectives", assist in helping solve police cases around the world. He will highlight the tools, techniques, and methods for finding, recovering, and identifying missing persons and human skeletal remains, and will share notable cases from his 45-year career, including the first victim of serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer.

Dr. Robert Mann is a forensic anthropologist and professor at the John A. Burns School of Medicine, University of Hawaii. He has examined over 15,000 human skeletons from institutions worldwide. He is one of 110 practicing anthropologists to qualify as a Diplomate of the American Board of Forensic Anthropology and was the first anthropologist inducted as a Fellow by the College of Physicians of Philadelphia in its 200 year history. He recently received the Sood Sangvichien Gold Medal from Siriraj Hospital for his forensic work in Thailand. His research focuses on anatomy, bone disease and trauma, skeletal anomalies, malformations, and normal variants of the human skeleton.

Dr. Mann has participated in the recovery and identification of victims of mass disasters, including 9/11 and the Asian tsunami, several commercial and military airplane and helicopter crashes, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, victims of three serial killers, and American soldiers who died in the War of 1812 and the American Civil War. He has authored over 120 scientific papers and 10 books and has been featured in various news specials and television documentaries on forensic anthropology. Dr. Mann serves as a visiting professor, instructor, or lecturer at multiple medical schools, hospitals, and universities in the U.S., Europe, and Southeast Asia.
