The Bloody History Of Surgery

Why should kids have all the fun?! Join Surgeons Hall Museum for some hands on learning in this online Zoom workshop.

Looking to do something fun this Halloween weekend? Join Surgeons' Hall Museums Learning Officer, Carl Ronan, to explore the bloody history of surgery in this adult only workshop. This online workshop looks at the procedures performed by surgeons in the past, including amputation without pain relief!

We’ll then get hands-on with an experiment to turn red cabbage into a chemical indicator. You don’t need prior knowledge of chemistry to try your hand with this kitchen science.

You will need:

• Red cabbage

• hot water & cold water,

• scissors,

• spoon,

• sieve,

• 2 x measuring / pouring jug,

• 3 x colourless clear tumblers / jars,

• colourless vinegar / fizzy colourless drink, baking powder (bicarbonate of soda)

We will email attendees with the Zoom meeting code by 3pm the day before the first class. Please check your spam mail if you have not received it by this time.

Eventbrite charge a booking fee (0.49p + 6.5% of the ticket value) for this event which is included in your ticket price but is non-refundable.
