Swann-Morton Blades

This presentation case displays a whole range of blades made by Swann-Morton, for use in different types of surgery including general, orthopaedic, ENT, plastic and reconstructive. Some blades are designed for cutting tissue, while others cut stitches. The more unusual shaped blades are used for very specific operations. The coloured handled instruments are single use, while the steel handles can be fitted with new blades after cleaning and sterilisation. Based in Sheffield, Swann-Morton was founded in 1932 and today uses 600 tonnes of steel a year to make over 1.5 million blades every day.
