The Archive, Library and Museums are delighted to be welcoming Marieke Hendriksen, a postdoctoral researcher at Utrecht University, the Netherlands to the College this Autumn.

Marieke will be joining us thanks to a Wellcome Trust Research Bursary, awarded to use the RCSEd Institutional Archive. She will be studying practices and resources used by the members of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh to preserve and make models of the human body in the period 1700-1850.

She will be delivering a talk on her research "The Art of Modelling in Plaster: Transmission of Technique Between Anatomists and Artists at The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh around 1800" on the 15th November, which will include the opportunity to explore Surgeons’ Hall Museums.
