Surgeons' Hall Museum comes to Blackhall Library

1 April 2015

Throughout April 2015, Surgeons' Hall Museum, will be working in partnership with Edinburgh University to bring its touring exhibition ‘Words and Deeds, Weapons and Wounding’ to Blackhall Library.

The University of Edinburgh’s exhibition ‘Words and Deeds: Women, Warfare and Caregiving’ explores the often neglected and understated story of women in warfare. Furthermore, 'Weapons and Wounding’ highlights the severity of injuries women in warfare would have dealt with, exploring the progression of weaponry and the ever increasing need for new medical and surgical techniques to cope with wounding in warfare. The exhibitions run in tandem to consider conflict from the Napoleonic War to World War Two.

The exhibition and associated activities are funded and coordinated by Surgeons' Hall Museum and are free of charge. Selected activities will be taking place at the venue; including "Mary Seacole, Forgotten Hero?".

Please contact Blackhall Library for more information about the venue, events and accessibility.

If you are interested in hosting this exhibition, please contact the Project Coordinator Emma Black for more information.
