The Remarkable Elsie Inglis & the Scottish Women’s Hospital

25 July 2014

Join us at Central Library on the 5th August for a free talk in conjunction with Edinburgh Reads. "The Remarkable Elsie Inglis & the Scottish Women’s Hospital with Iain Macintyre".

Elsie Inglis was a remarkable woman doctor. She was a pioneer of medical education for women, a successful surgeon in Edinburgh and a leader of the Suffrage movement. But it was her work with the Scottish Women's Hospitals in the First World War which made her a national heroine. Her story, one of courage and determination, is one of the most inspiring to emerge from Scottish medicine.
