Study In Scarlet

A Study in Scarlet: Medical Jurisprudence and the rise of the medical witness

For 2018 we are delighted to introduce a series of intimate talks taking a look behind the scenes at Surgeons Hall Museums, entitled #SpeakToTheSpecialist.

Louise Wilkie, Assistant Curator at Surgeons' Hall Museums, will look at high profile murder cases of 19th century Scotland and the involvement of the medical witness.

Louise joined Surgeons' Hall Museums in 2017 from the University of Aberdeen Museums and has spent several years working with a range of museum collections. With a background in history Louise has focussed her early research here on early medical forensics and the role of the surgeon as an early expert witness.
