Death Becomes Her: A Short History of Preserving the Human Body After Death

Death Becomes Her Small

For 2018 we are delighted to introduce a series of intimate talks taking a look behind the scenes at Surgeons Hall Museums, entitled #SpeakToTheSpecialist.

From Egyptian mummies to plastination, Cat Irving shall give a brief overview of the science of preserving the human body, with an insight into the work she does every day as Human Remains Conservator at Surgeons’ Hall Museums.

Cat has worked in preserving human and animal tissue for 16 years, and has previously worked on the anatomical and pathological collections of Glasgow University and the Hunterian Museum.

The talk will last about 60min and the Museums will be open for viewing until 9pm for ticket holders only.
