THIS EVENT IS NOW SOLD OUT

In association with Rare Books Edinburgh 2017, join us at Surgeons' Hall for a day of rare books, book binding and conservation.

In conventional book binding, the sophisticated sewing is usually hidden behind the cover. In this one-day workshop, you will discover two intricate methods of sewing that expose the spine in a decorative way. Attendees to the class will have the chance to create, with artist Susie Wilson, and leave with two finished books of their own. No experience necessary.

There will also be the opportunity to spend time in the College Library looking at the rare books in our collection, as well as observing Louis Valentine of Carronvale Bindary at work.

Suitable for age 16+

1 hour included for lunch (not provided).
