The Remarkable Elsie Inglis & the Scottish Women’s Hospital, Mr Iain Macintyre Royal College of Surgeons, Surgeons Hall Museum, Edinburgh

Elsie Inglis was a remarkable woman doctor. She was a pioneer of medical education for women, a successful surgeon in Edinburgh and a leader of the Suffrage movement. But it was her work with the Scottish Women's Hospitals in the First World War which made her a national heroine. Her story, one of courage and determination, is one of the most inspiring to emerge from Scottish medicine.
